Foot Health Practitioners

by Admin on August 27, 2011

Foot care in the United Kingdom is becoming somewhat of a situation that defies belief. Originally there was chiropody and its changing its name to podiatry. There was those who had a university qualification and who can work in the NHS and there were those who did a short course and could only work privately. A number of years ago, the Health Professions Council put an end to this by grandfathering everyone under the one umbrella. From then on, only those grandfathered or with a university degree could use the title Podiatrists or Chiropodist. This should have solved the problem and public confusion between the two sectors, so what happened. The private trainers just used the term Foot health Practitioners and kept running there private short course and kept training people to become what was now known as the foot health practitioner. This has caused a lot of angst in the UK, as it was nothing more than an attempt by the Foot Health Practitioner to skirt around the intend and sprit of the law and the Health Professions Council.
